2025 – Moving Forward with Vision

The Kapa3 Annual Review 2025 reflects a year of determination and vision, as Kapa3 strengthened its impact through initiatives and collaborations focused on holistic cancer care.During the first half of the year alone, we managed more than 400 individual requests, with support for the process of Disability Certification standing out as a key service—confirming that personalized, hands-on support remains at the core of our mission.

A milestone moment in 2025 was Kapa3’s participation, alongside 13 European partners, in the EU4Health programme MELODIC, which focuses on improving mental health support for young adult cancer patients (18–39 years old). Through research mapping the training needs of healthcare professionals, the project highlights the urgent need for better detection and management of psychological distress among young patients—many of whom still lack access to adequate psychosocial care.

MELODIC promotes innovative wellbeing interventions, such as physical activity in green and blue spaces combined with psychosocial support, emphasizing the healing power of nature and community in mental health recovery. As an active partner, Kapa3 works to ensure that these actions reach patients directly, fostering community engagement and equitable access to quality care.

At the same time, our participation in the second cycle of the SmartHEALTH programme, supported by CERTH, strengthened the digital integration of healthcare services and empowered patients through smart technologies, improving efficiency, accessibility, and transparency.

Our collaboration with FairLife within the BREATH programme for lung cancer patients highlighted the importance of holistic and interdisciplinary care. In parallel, our presence at conferences and scientific events—such as COST Action INECSC CA21125 and the 7th conference “Caregivers and Depression”—consistently brought attention to the needs of caregivers and the empowerment of patients.

At both national and international levels, Kapa3 presented its work at the Lazord International Conference, the Pan-Macedonian Scientific Nursing Conference, and the ESMO World Congress in Berlin. We also participated in major events such as the Patients Summit, Morning Health Talks by EIT Health, and the 18th Panhellenic Conference on Nutrition & Dietetics.

A particularly important moment was our action in the Municipality of Megara, where a new Cancer Patient Guidance and Counselling Station was established, offering direct and personalized support to patients and their families.

Prevention and awareness remain fundamental pillars of our work. Breast self-examination initiatives, participation in the Action4Obesity network, presence at the Thessaloniki Disability Festival, and the launch of new nutrition-related sections on our website all contribute to improving the quality of life of patients and caregivers—combining scientific guidance with lived experience.

Awards 2025

In 2025, Kapa3 received significant recognition for the digital platform Cancer Care Connect, winning a Gold Award at the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Awards, as well as the Gold Award for “NGO of the Year – Health and Social Care” at the Hellenic Responsible Business Awards 2025.
In addition, our collaboration with the University of Peloponnese received a Silver Award at the Healthcare Business Awards 2025 for the programme “Community co-design and implementation of holistic educational practices for nutrition and mental health.”

Every initiative, every partnership, and every participation brings us closer to our vision: holistic, human-centred care where the voices of patients and caregivers truly matter.

Healthcare Business Awards 2025

KAPA3, in collaboration with the Laboratory of Basic Health Sciences of the Department of Nursing at the University of the Peloponnese, have been honored at the Healthcare Business Awards 2025.

On Tuesday, November 18, at the Ethniki Asfalistiki Conference Center, the Healthcare Business Awards 2025 ceremony took place. For the 10th consecutive year, BOUSSIAS events organized the Awards in Greece, aiming to highlight initiatives and best practices in the healthcare sector.

More than 450 senior executives, representatives of institutions and universities, professionals, and media attended the ceremony, applauding the innovation and quality of the awarded initiatives. A total of 61 companies, organizations, and individuals were recognized across a broad spectrum of business activities.

Among the awardees, the Cancer Patient Guidance Center – KAPA3, together with the Laboratory of Basic Health Sciences of the Department of Nursing at the University of the Peloponnese, were honored with the Silver Award for the project: “Community Co-Design and Implementation of Holistic Educational Practices for Nutrition and Mental Health in Oncology”. The award was received on behalf of both teams by Ms. Evangelia Mpista, Co-Founder of KAPA3.

The Experiential Meetings program offers holistic support to oncology patients and caregivers through community co-design, emphasizing nutrition and mental health.

Its goal is to improve quality of life, empower participants, and promote integrated oncology care in Greece. For all of us, nutritional care is a human right, linked to justice and equity in access, and represents both an institutional culture and an interdisciplinary approach. Providing initiatives such as this project enhances the quality of clinical care, serving as a fundamental pillar in addressing disease complications such as malnutrition.

This program aimed to identify and develop an interconnected set of practices that allow a community to learn how to prevent and manage its own cancer-related challenges, targeting regional communities with limited access to oncology advisory services, including nutrition and mental health.

Interested individuals can participate in upcoming sessions.

This recognition strengthens our commitment to continue our work with dedication, support oncology patients and their families daily, and foster collaborations at this level to maximize the social impact of our initiatives.

Another Initiative, Another Award for Kapa3!

Great joy and honor, Kapa3’s campaign “Think of a word that starts with K” received two awards at the Indie Awards 2024, marking an important distinction for Kapa3 at the Kapa3 Indie Awards 2024.

Specifically, it received the GOLD award for the radio spot in the “Best in Radio” category, while the online spot also received the SILVER award in the “Best in Film/Video” category.
The campaign “Think of a word that starts with K” delivers a powerful social message aimed at informing and raising public awareness about cancer. It was created and produced with the invaluable support of A3 Resizing Ideas.

 
It is a strong call for social responsibility and active participation by all of us in a continuous effort to support healthcare services, so that we can finally achieve improvement in the quality of life of cancer patients, promote the principles of prevention and active public involvement in health management, reduce the human and financial cost in healthcare, and highlight civil society as a positive force for the implementation of actions of common benefit.

A key prerequisite for all of the above is the development of a strong, supportive social, institutional, and legal framework for prevention and management, safeguarding the fundamental right of patients to a life of quality, free from stereotypes and discrimination.

With the unwavering support of friends, partners, volunteers, and members of Kapa3, under the guidance of A3, we succeeded—through this spot and the event organized for the same purpose on 18/10/23 at Syntagma Metro Station—in delivering our message that “It is not only Cancer that starts with K, but also everything that can defeat it.”

In the end, it is teams that win—and all of us at Kapa3 are happy because, together with you, we feel like a TEAM.

After all, the team that draws inspiration from the collective rather than from a single player is the one that succeeds.

Caring for Those Who Once Cared for Us: Kapa3 Wins 1st Prize at the Patient Partnerships Awards 2021

It is a great joy and honor for Kapa3 to receive its first award for collaborative actions in support of patients from Boussias Conferences at the Patient Partnership Awards 2021.

For the Kapa3 team, this distinction is not only the culmination of the hard work and dedication with which we have embraced and worked on this initiative.

At the same time, receiving such a significant distinction after just one and a half years of activity, under unprecedented working conditions, confirms the great responsibility we now recognize we carry: to prove that we continue to move forward with consistency, commitment to our goals, and dedication to the values of Kapa3.

All of us—the Kapa3 team—would like to sincerely thank everyone who has walked alongside us on this journey so far.

First and foremost, we would like to thank the TIMA Foundation, which supported the implementation of a great idea born within a small team through the Support Points, as well as the KEFI Athens Association, which gave life to the entire initiative.

We also thank all those who trusted us and allowed us to handle their cases, as well as each and every person who dedicated their time to our cause.

Kapa3 began as a small team with a strong vision and confidence. This distinction gives us the reassurance to continue envisioning the future, working toward growth, and evolving every single day.

And, as with every award, we cannot fail to dedicate this recognition to our families, who share our concerns, contribute in every possible way to the realization of our plans, and never stop supporting us.
